morning fog

all this week, it's been very foggy in the morning. i found it quite beautiful. ethereal.

i took this at my tram stop on my way to work. the shrine of remembrance is somewhere behind the trees, completely covered by the fog.

Melbourne Today

FINALLY! I have internet connection at home. It's so good to be connected with the world again. Haa.. I'll try to write and update this regularly but I'm not promising anything. I still have to do a lot of sorting and organizing my stuff and cleaning the apartment.

In the mean time, check this out: Melbourne Today. It's photo blog of my new city updated daily.

it's a gorgeous day in melbourne... cloudless sky, the sun is shinning, the yarra river is glistening, and massive crowd in the city. i'm regretting not having my camera with me so you'll just need to take my word for it :) it's the last day of Moomba Waterfest and there was a parade on this morning. i missed it cause i slept in this morning in my new apartment! (yep, finally). it's still empty of course... the white goods (and the tv) won't be delivered until wednesday and the bed is coming in about a week or so. the air mattress was surprisingly quite comfortable and the doona that i borrowed from carem was extremely cozy. it is going to be a long and expensive process to make the apartment my home for at least the next year but i'm very excited about it. i am off to target and big w to get some stuff...

but before i go, let's talk about rugby for a sec - my crusaders lost to the highlanders on satuday. their third lost on the trot and RMC is out on injury. oh the tragedy! what is going on? i know it's going to be different without Robbie Deans, and a handful of quality players but i had always been optimistic about this season. but it's still early enough in the season, they will bounce back. they will bounce back. they will bounce back... there, i said it three times :) i hope Richie recovers soon!!

Welcome 2009!

I am very happy that 2009 is finally here. New job, new city is just around the corner for me. Although I’m a wee bit nervous about the move, I am mostly excited.

I’m so glad to leave 2008 behind. Not that it was a bad year. It just flew by and I didn’t feel like I did anything special really. I did travel – did a lot of travelling. I went to visit my family in Jakarta three times in a year and saw my little chipmunks. I went to Australia, twice. I went to Hong Kong for little J’s wedding around Christmas time. And I did get me a new job.

Maybe it is just because this new year coincides with my new job and a move to a new city that it feels more significant. Significantly new beginning.

I tried to do away with new year's resolution, but I can't help it. This year I'm going to try to:
Journal regularly
Exercise
Go out and do something interesting
Spend money wisely

Pretty standard resolution items but we will see how good am I in keeping it.

I will post updates on how the moving is going.

interview with mossy

Today I stumbled upon a new interview of my favorite Scottish rugby player, Chris Paterson.

Listen here to the interview with BBC Scotland.

[I need to listen to it several times to understand what he was saying - but oh, I love the accent]

looking forward to this...

My friend Lay Min got us tickets for Sunday, Aug 3.

Look at that day's line up:
Jason Mraz - Yay!!
Alicia Keys
One Republic
Panic at the Disco
Jamie Scott
Stacie Orrico
Rick Astley - feeling nostalgic already?

I will arrive back in Singapore (from Jakarta) at about 3am that Sunday, hope for a good night sleep, so I can dance and sing along all sunday long... :)

happy birthday, my little darling!

today is my nephew, jesse's, 3rd birthday. i can't believe he's three. he was one of the reason i left chicago and moved to singapore. i didn't want to see him only once every few years. i try to get home to jakarta a couple times a year now and it is good.

unfortunately i couldn't be home for his birthday. but i wish him the happiest of day and many many blessings on him.

happy birthday, jesse ***mwwwaaah***
